I’m Back!

Sorry for the month-long break from posting. I have been so busy that I completely forgot about the fact that I have a blog! Last month was such a whirlwind. April started with my first professional indoor photo shoot. I shot over 75 artists for D’Addario in one day! It was insane. I had no idea how many people I was going to be shooting until the day before. People really misuse the word “few.” By the end of the day I was exhausted and really wishing I had an assistant. The good news is I have some great shots to add to my portfolio and a reputable company to put on my list of clients. I am so thankful that people have been so willing to give me chances despite my lack of experience. Here are some outtakes of the more notable artists I shot.

It has been so cold lately that I have to force myself to go out at least a few nights a week. This weather makes choosing cozy nights at home watching movies SO easy no matter what else is going on. Spring cannot come quick enough but in the mean time Netflix is a good distraction from the winter blues. I love movies and can watch a good one two or three times before I return it. These are my most recent new favorites and old standbys.

This is still one of my favorite Prada campaigns of all time. I want a million pairs of those socks. Does anyone remember which year this was? I’m pretty sure it was late 90′s because of the heel shape but I can’t remember. I wish style.com archive’s went back forever.

I just hooked up my new (to me) scanner today and beginning on my long overdue project: scanning everything! I have an insane amount of tear sheets that I’ve collected from magazines over the last two decades, some pretty sweet photos, and a ton of other random stuff that looks cool. After all these years my pack-rat nature will finally pay off when I put this stuff into the world wide web for everyone to enjoy. First up and the thing I am most excited to post on my blog, my gorgeous Mother’s model card. My Mom was a top model in Japan during her teens. My Grandfather was in the airforce and was stationed there for her highschool years. She and her sisters were picked up by an agency and her work took her all over the country and out of school constantly. She became one of the most popular models of the era and when she finally got a chance to return to Japan as Be Your Own Pet’s chaperone they were still playing one of her ad’s on TV. She is a timeless beauty and I hope I can age half as gracefully as she has.

The Hundred Dresses

When I get bored I have the bad habit of looking at dresses on Etsy. Luckily I am very experienced at Fantasy shopping and only buy the things I absolutely cannot live without. I saw this little beauty in BetaBoutique’s Shop and I had to have it. I just hope it fits!

Most of the things I find are out of my price range but I still enjoy admiring them. Here are my latest finds that are inspiring a growing list of ideas for projects I want to attempt once I actually know my way around a sewing machine. Alexia, my incredibly talented and crafty older sister, is starting a weekly sewing class and I am so excited to finally learn some basics. Our first project is a simple tote and then we are moving on to making a skirt (with a zipper!). I set a goal for being able to make myself a dress by my Birthday in August. I doubt it will be as complicated as any of the dresses I have obsessed over lately but someday…

I am obsessed with this dress and the ric rac detail. It would be so amazing on a skirt too.

I’ve never bought a pattern but this one was really tempting. I love the way the stripes are used in different directions.

I love the cut-outs on the shoulders of this gorgeous dress. I can’t get 40′s fashion out of my head now.

Oh dresses. I don’t think I will ever have enough.

I need a new copy of this one.
